Air Conditioning in Winter?
It is wise to run your air conditioning a minimum of about ten minutes each week throughout the entire year, even in cold weather. Obviously, the air conditioner will be run for longer periods during hot weather. During cold weather, the passenger compartment temperature control can be set to medium to reduce the chilling effects.
The air conditioning must be periodically run in order to circulate the lubricant that is contained within the refrigerant. The lubricant protects system seals and internal compressor parts. The seals would dry up and leak without lubricant. The air conditioner compressor parts would wear prematurely in the absence of lubricant. Running the air conditioning on a regular basis will extend its life.
